Aligning Your Offer with Your Soul: A Guide to Pricing from Purpose

How to price your services from a place of alignment, not scarcity, and attract clients who value your work.

Pricing is one of the most resistance-laden aspects of business. You've been taught to price based on market rates or competitor analysis. But that strategy often leads to a race to the bottom. Instead, what if you priced from purpose?

When I work with clients, we don't start with numbers. We start with the transformation they provide. What do your clients actually get? If you're a coach, you don't sell hours; you sell clarity, confidence, and results. If you're a designer, you sell a brand that attracts the right customers.

Once you define the outcome, you can begin to quantify its value. For instance, if your coaching helps a client land a $100k career move, charging $5k is a no-brainer. Yet many coaches price at $1k because they feel unworthy.

The market is not a fixed reality; it's a conversation. And you have the power to shift that conversation. When you charge from a place of service, you're not being greedy; you're being generous. You're enabling people to access something that could change their lives.

A practical step: write down the top three tangible results your clients achieve. Then, assign a dollar amount to each result. What's it worth to them to get that promotion, to avoid that costly mistake, to save 10 hours a week? Now, sum those values. That's the potential worth of your offer.

Your pricing should be a fraction of that value, yet high enough to reflect your expertise. If you're underpricing, you're not helping your clients; you're hurting them. They don't take the work seriously, and you're draining your own energy.

One client, a copywriter, was charging $500 per sales page. She felt she needed to justify her rates with endless revisions. When we shifted her mindset to see her work as a revenue generator (one page brought in $50k), she raised her price to $5k and offered a higher-touch experience. She began attracting serious entrepreneurs who valued her work.

Pricing from purpose also means being willing to walk away from clients who don't match your energy. When you set a high standard, you filter out those who would drain you. The result is a business that feels lighter and more fulfilling.

If you're still feeling stuck, ask yourself: what would I need to believe to charge my ideal price? Write down that belief and work on adopting it. It's not about becoming arrogant; it's about owning your worth.

Alignment is not a luxury; it's a business strategy. When your pricing matches your purpose, you attract your ideal clients, and the money flows with ease. Start today by reconnecting with why you do what you do.
